Treating acne scars is a specialty at Atlantis Medical Institute of Age Management. Many people have come to believe that a particular treatment may be best for their acne scars. Dr. Gonzalez understands that every case of acne scarring is unique, thus the treatment options can differ considerably. Nothing can take the place of a consultation. Often, several of these treatments are used in combination for outstanding results. If acne scars are affecting your self esteem you owe it to yourself to schedule a complimentary consultation. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) The healing and corrective properties of light are harnessed by Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. IPL is the newest non surgical procedure to eradicated or minimize the ravage of time in our skin with actually no “downtime.” IPL skin treatment improves the appearance of damaged skin (caused by Ultra Violet Rays of sun light). These treatments that can reduce redness (from rosacea and broken blood vessels), address uneven skin tone and pigmentation (age spots or sun damage), and reduce the appearance of fine lines by stimulating the development of collagen. Typically performed on the face, neck, chest, back or hands, best results are seen with four or more treatments. While IPL improves skin condition by dermal thickening, formation of new collagen, mitigation of melasma (pregnancy induced hyper-pigmentation or “mask of pregnancy”) and dark circles under the eyes; however it is not a substitute for a surgical facelift. Treatment consists of detailed counseling. Application of cooling gel is followed by delivery of Intense Pulsed Light to skin surface via special filter. As IPL is a low energy procedure, expected discomfort is minimal and could be compared to stinging sensation of a rubber band snap. On rare occasions IPL can cause hypo-or hyper pigmentation, bruises, and rarely blister; which over time all self correct. To achieve desired result, 4-6 sessions of IPL treatment is needed. Optimum interval between sessions is 3 weeks. Sun exposure should be avoided 3-4 weeks before and 3-4 weeks after treatments. IPL can also improve the neck and hands appearance, by enhancing the textural condition and lessening the pigmentations. Schedule an appointment today. Laser Vein Treatment Spider veins are especially common. You know spider veins - you probably have some yourself. Spiders are those ugly, red and purple little veins that run up and down the legs resembling lines on a road map. Sometimes they fan out along the outside of the thigh or the inner aspect of the lower leg. Often they gather around the ankles or behind the knees. The treatment of cosmetic leg veins with the latest LASER technology is a prime example of this rapidly developing area in medicine. The beauty of this concept is that the overlying skin is not damaged in the process. As a side effect of the treatment we sometimes see bruising, and hyper pigmentation or darkening of the skin caused by the vessels actually rupturing. When this occurs small amounts of blood are seen under the skin and it is usually resolved within a few weeks to months. Facial Veins and Treatment You may have noticed fine, little red veins on the nose, chin, or cheeks that weren't there before. These are telangiectasias or facial spider veins, and they appear on both men and women as a normal part of aging. They can also result from pregnancy, childbirth, birth-control pills, sun damage, rosacea, and even corticosteroids. Although not usually a medical problem, telangiectasias can be an aesthetic one that make-up usually doesn't cover adequately.Utilizing several laser technologies we are able to significantly diminish facial spider veins and rosacea in 1-2 quick, painless 10-20min. sessions. The results can go a long way to improving ones skin tone and reverse the appearance of chronic undamaged skin. The presence of acne can be both physically and emotionally debilitating. Even worse is when acute inflammatory acne evolves into permanent scars. Often active acne can damage the skin leaving deep pitted scars and craters. When this happens over a large area, as on the cheeks, there can be a significant loss of volume and collapse of skin and soft tissue. 
New technology laser treatment is effective but slow. Between three and eight laser tattoo removal treatments spaced 6 weeks apart are necessary to remove black and multi-colored tattoos. The end result is worth it! After these treatments the tattoo fades and your normal skin tone shows through.
There is always a slight chance of side effects after treatments of laser tattoo removal. Darker skin is more likely to have one or more of these side effects: (1) Hyper pigmentation or hypo pigmentation (a darkening or lightening of the skin), (2) infection- if not cared for properly, (3) scarring- if an infection is not treated and (4) incomplete clearing (some inks may not respond completely).
